I believe we are living in extraordinary times. Our most significant challenges are planetary in nature, which are requiring a new, truly not-yet-existing consciousness and action to meet them. For the first time in our evolution, we are aware of the process of evolution in consciousness and in form. We are connected together at an unprecedented level through technology. New forms of consciousness, organization and collective intelligence seem to be emerging amidst rapid global change. In some ways we are at a truly extraordinary moment. In others it is a moment like all others.
My first intuition of a deeper truth occurred when I was thirteen, as my life took an unexpected turn for the worse, and I found myself living in an unfamiliar place without family, friends or anyone I knew. At the same time, the place had a beauty and spirit that was unavoidable, and drew me into deeper lands. I began questioning. While my questioning has taken turns as my own inner and outer world changed, it has remained my whole life. This questioning eventually led to a deeper vision of who we are and of our human potential that I found deeply liberating.
Today, I often seem to simply hear every desire for greater wholeness, every complaint or concern, and every regret as a reference to this impulse moving through all dimensions of our existence that pulls us forward, back to spirit or to the ultimate, while we are embraced by this spirit. Regardless of where we are or what we see, we seem to be playing our part in that unfolding.
